Generous contribution for the Education Programmes

Just as the first exchange group of 2012 arrived at the Pestalozzi Children’s Village from Ukraine, Executive Director Urs K. Egger received a cheque of 50,000 francs from the UBS Foundation for Social Issues and Education in support of PCF’s Education Programmes. Emergency project Guatemala: New toilets for girls and boys

Only a year after tropical storm Agathe caused devastation and loss of life in our Central American project country Guatemala, tropical storm 12 E brought wide-spread damage to the country's agriculture and buildings. A total of 66,120 families are affected by the disaster. Proud and happy! Tonight the students of our emPower leadership course received their diplomas. „You can make the difference“, was the message of the speakers at the graduation ceremony. Next week, the 20 young adults will return to their countries where they will pass on the knowledge and experience they have gained during their nine-month course in the Children’s Village. Myanmar: Schools are still closed

Following ongoing protests by the local population, the Burmese government has put a halt to the reservoir dam project in the country's north-eastern region. However, the situation around Myitkyina, where three of our schools are located, has not calmed down. On the contrary: Skirmishes between the local Kachin Independence Army and Government troops have intensified. Civilians are leaving the troubled areas and village surroundings are being mined. Let’s make noise for Children and for their Rights!

As we like to involve the children and youth staying in the Pestalozzi Children's Village, we will celebrate the day of Children's Rights on Wednesday, November 16th  (the official day is on November 20th).
