Peace education and vocational training for young people
They work but they do not earn enough money to make ends meet. Young men and women between 16 and 19 years of age, without sufficient school education and training, have to work as casual labourers. They live in the countryside or in the outskirts of large cities in the provinces San Salvador, Ahuachapán, Sonsonate, Chalatenango, Cabañas and San Miguel.
Our partner organisations Agape Association and Fusalmo assist disadvantaged young people in their transition from primary school to work by providing vocational guidance, workshops, apprenticeships and job placement services.
The HOPE project is addressed to 9200 children and young people between 16 and 19 years of age. It offers basic education and skill training to help young people on their way from primary school to work life. The project does not limit itself to conveying theoretical and practical knowledge but also emphasises on strengthening personal development and a culture of peace. In doing so, it shows alternatives to the daily violence in society.
HOPE is supported by the Jacobs Foundation and by the Medicor Foundation.
