Theoretical and practical training of teachers
Educating children in rural and deprived areas: In order to ensure basic education for Myanmar children, Pestalozzi Children’s Foundation supports the training of local teaching staff and the introduction of child-friendly teaching methods.
Our partner organisations in Myanmar promote theoretical and practical training, and the further training of local school leavers who want to become teachers. Ensuring good quality teaching is a major concern. Teaching is being revised and curricula and teaching materials adapted to include subjects such as local customs and crafts, history, and culture as well as practical topics on health, environment, and rights.
New teaching methods focus on child-centred teaching rather than on teacher-centred instruction. Improved teaching methods help children work more creatively. They now work in groups and are more interested in their subjects.
