They shaped the early days of the Children's Village
Walter Robert Corti, Marie Meierhofer, Elisabeth Rotten, Arthur Bill, Hans Fischli
The creation of the Pestalozzi Children’s Village in Trogen (AR) is the merit of Swiss philosopher Walter Robert Corti. In the August 1944 issue of the monthly magazine “DU”, Corti appealed to the Swiss population to build a village for children orphaned by World War II. His article met an overwhelming response and as early as 1946 the Children’s Village was inaugurated.
Marie Meierhofer, paediatrician, Elisabeth Rotten, reform pedagogue, the architect Hans Fischli and Arthur Bill, head of the Children's Village were close friends of Walter Robert Corti and accompanied him throughout his life.
