The Burmese president, U Htin Kyaw, called on organisations to protect plants and animals in order to secure the future of subsequent generations. Kyi Kyi Soe, Pestalozzi Children’s Foundation country representative in Myanmar/Burma, spoke to the guests about the foundation’s educational projects in Myanmar/Burma.
Education for children in refugee camps
The Pestalozzi Children’s Foundation supports children in Myanmar/Burma who have been forced to leave their homes due to political conflict and flooding. Many such children take refuge in refugee camps, where the Pestalozzi Children’s Foundation offers them a regular school routine. Alongside the usual subjects, children also learn how to keep the school and camp environment clean and to look after the school’s garden, explains Kyi Kyi Soe.
