A central element of the project is participation and co-determination. The young people contribute their own ideas and wishes for the project in an online meeting in advance. During the week, elected representatives discuss current concerns and challenges in the General Assembly and find solutions together. This platform promotes learning about democratic processes and enables participants to take an active part in decision-making processes, while the young people also design their own programme on two afternoons during the project. Whether breakdancing, creative writing or discussion rounds - the participants can learn from each other and inspire others in the so-called Open Space.
The programme also includes a variety of evening activities in the open youth club of the children's village as well as an excursion to St. Gallen to get to know the city. On the final day, the results of the week are presented at the Pestalozzi Children's Village, and in addition to networking across Europe, an important aim of the project is also to develop action plans. With the knowledge gained, the young people initiate local projects to put what they have learnt into practice.
