The SDC is the Swiss Federal Agency for Development Cooperation and a key partner of the Pestalozzi Children's Foundation. For over ten years, it has supported our international programmes with the programme contribution for NGOs, enabling educational projects for particularly disadvantaged children and young people in twelve programme countries.
The partnership with the SDC is based on a shared understanding of inclusive, equitable and contextually appropriate education. Inspired by the Swiss education system, we support the development of decentralised education systems that are geared towards the skills required locally. The programmatic framework of our cooperation is in line with Switzerland's new strategy for international cooperation 2025-2028.
A common focus is on localisation: we specifically strengthen local NGOs and civil society actors in the education sector through capacity building, partnership agreements and the joint implementation of projects. The SDC's programme contribution also enables us to provide targeted support for education in emergency situations - for example in fragile and conflict-affected regions. According to the OECD, seven of our programme countries are considered fragile contexts and six are particularly vulnerable to climate-related disasters.
- Current programme contribution for 2025 and 2026: CHF 6,086,000, around 27% of the international programme

Swiss Solidarity is the independent foundation of the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation SRG and one of the largest private donors of humanitarian aid in Switzerland. For over 75 years, it has been mobilising funds for victims of natural disasters, conflicts and humanitarian crises worldwide. It works with around 28 Swiss partner organisations and guarantees the transparent and responsible use of funds.
The Pestalozzi Children's Foundation has been accredited as a partner aid organisation for over ten years. Swiss Solidarity is currently supporting one of our projects in Guatemala, which aims to transform schools into safe places of learning where girls and boys can learn together and strengthen their social and emotional skills.
The Pestalozzi Children's Foundation can submit project applications on changing topics and regions via the annually redefined Child Fund and other emergency aid financing mechanisms of Swiss Solidarity. This flexible approach makes it possible to respond to current challenges - especially emergency situations.
The Pestalozzi Children's Foundation's education-in-emergency approach ensures that girls and boys in crisis and emergency situations have access to inclusive, high-quality education. It combines the protection of particularly vulnerable children with measures such as the reconstruction of safe learning spaces and the training of teachers in child-centred approaches or psychosocial support.
