The youth centres in Trogen, Wald, Rehtobel and Heiden are open to all children and young people from Year 5 up to the age of 16, free of charge and without the need to book in advance. Open youth work in the municipalities is managed by the Pestalozzi Children’s Village Foundation under a mandate. This ensures that open youth work in the Appenzell region is professionally organised and run.

What is open youth work, and who is it for?

Through open child and youth work, children and young people are guided, supported and encouraged on their path to independence through relationship-building. Spaces are created in which children and young people can pursue their specific needs, separate from adults.

Facilities

As well as a bar serving drinks and tasty food, the youth centre has a table football table, a pool table, a music system, craft materials, cosy sofas for chilling out and much more.

Projects and events

You can launch projects or events in collaboration with the open youth services. Or you can take part in their programme. You can send your ideas to Nina Hoch for Trogen-Wald-Rehetobel and Silvia Sutter for Heiden.  

Opening hours

The youth centres in Trogen, Wald and Rehetobel are open on a rotating basis on the following days. The exact opening hours are available on the TWR website.

Around 6,000 children and young people take part in our projects in Switzerland every year. They learn new things and break down prejudices in a way that is appropriate for children.
