Summer party in the children's village

There was dancing, there was playing, there was celebrating. The tenth edition of the summer festival at the Pestalozzi Children's Village lived up to its promise: a colourful celebration for the whole family, with a programme for young and old. And there were plenty of them at the children's village last Saturday.

The first rows in front of the concert stage were filled to the brim with excited children when the Schwiizergoofe Workshop kicked off their show at 11 a.m. on the dot. A few metres behind them stood the grinning adults as they watched the interactive dance and singing show send their children into euphoria, and it wasn't just the musical interlude that was responsible for the thaw and the relaxed mood. The morning chill had given way to warm late summer weather, so all the conditions were in place for a successful summer festival.

Full village

While the queues in front of the food stalls grew longer and longer, the cornets at the Soft Ice stand were filled with bright, creamy ice cream and the cakes were cut by the Trogen women's gymnastics club, a steady clinking of glasses could be heard at the Nubia Brew drinks stand.

It was no coincidence that a group of former residents of the Children's Village gathered at this stand - familiar faces whose visit to the summer festival is already the norm. More and more guests, big and small, trickled into the Children's Village. Over 1700 guests attended the summer festival and celebrated together in Trogen.

Between turtles and skimboards

A particular highlight were the animals from Walter Zoo, which were not only very popular with the younger guests. Australian praying mantis shrimps and giant tortoises drew excited looks from the audience and caused them to hold their breath. In its presentations, Walter Zoo raised awareness of the protection of endangered animal species and used its educational work to raise awareness of nature and species conservation.

Outside the school building, guests were able to get out of breath with the many different activities. Whether it was horseriding, skimboarding, guided tours and discovery tours, exploring children's rights and educational projects or the popular annual children's face painting - boredom definitely stayed at home at the summer festival.

Atmospheric sounds and fades

When William White took out his guitar, the sun was already low. Now with a significantly higher average age than a few hours earlier, a crowd gathered in front of the summer festival stage - sitting rather than standing - and let the evening draw to a close with the right music.

The 2025 summer festival was a festival for everyone. A festival to celebrate diversity together, to experience the Children's Village, to listen, play and enjoy. But also to slowly say goodbye to summer.
