Peace Education &
Empowerment Summit
Good to
know
Project
in concrete terms
The ‘Peace Education and Empowerment Summit’ aims to empower participants in a comprehensive way – on a professional, methodological and personal level. Through a varied programme featuring workshops, presentations, discussion sessions and shared experiences, it stimulates and encourages reflection on learning and development processes.
Participants will expand their knowledge of peace education and empowerment. Topics covered include non-violent conflict transformation, building a culture of empathy, environmental peacebuilding, conflict sensitivity and resilience. Presentations, the sharing of best practice and discussions within interdisciplinary and international groups provide insights into various European contexts and encourage reflection on challenges, potential solutions and how these can be applied to participants’ own practice.
The Summit offers participants the opportunity to experience, try out and reflect on practical, non-formal educational activities. These voluntary, participatory and experience-based approaches create learning spaces beyond formal curricula, foster creativity and empower young people to play an active role in shaping their own learning. The focus is on how to create safe and inclusive learning spaces in which learners are involved and empowered. Particular attention is paid to creative and participatory methods that promote empowerment and support peaceful conflict resolution.
The Summit also places great emphasis on the personal development of the participants. Living and learning together in a diverse group creates space for self-reflection, exchange and solidarity. In doing so, participants strengthen their resilience, capacity for empathy and confidence in their own self-efficacy.
